Growing up, Deborah Y. Strauss D.V.M always had a unique bond with animals and a dream to become a future veterinarian. She grew up surrounded by dogs and cats and was given her first horse at the young age of eleven. Deborah Strauss went to school at Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, where she received a dual degree in Biology and Art. Later, she attended Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in Ames, Iowa where she studied to become a veterinarian.

Throughout the years, Deborah Y. Strauss D.V.M has proved that dedication, hard work, and passion are three vital forces that create the foundation for success. She treats both dogs and cats with cancer, practices equine ophthalmology with a special interest in equine recurrent uveitis, and works with other animals like goats and rodents to provide them with the best care available. Deborah Strauss also specializes in euthanization house calls so that pets can pass on peacefully in familiar surroundings with their loved ones right beside them.

When she is not working as a veterinarian, Deborah Y. Strauss D.V.M makes beautiful works of art. She mostly uses charcoal and watercolors as her mediums of choice, but, at times, practices photography. Deborah Strauss’ passion for art began at the early age of five and she has been drawing and painting ever since. Two of her favorite artists are Claude Monet and George Ennis, who she admires for their expertise and beauty through the use of watercolors.

Deborah Y. Strauss continues to dedicate her time to her passions for art and animals still to this day, and plans to continue doing the same in the years to come. She is able to simultaneously work as a skilled artist and an experienced veterinarian in her home state where she exemplifies the joy of life that comes from loving what you do.
